Amount paid monthly by Social Security to older persons with low income and to disability pensioners who are not recipients of the Social Inclusion Benefit (Prestação Social para a Inclusão – PSI).
The monthly amount varies from beneficiary to beneficiary, as the Solidarity Supplement for Older Persons (Complemento Solidário para Idosos – CSI) is calculated as the difference between the household’s total income and the CSI reference amount.
The maximum monthly amount of the CSI (in the absence of any other income), for a single older person, amounts to €670.00 in 2026.
The Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly is an extraordinary benefit to combat poverty among the elderly, part of the solidarity subsystem, which aims to improve the income level of its recipients.
This social benefit was created by Decree-Law no. 232/2005, of 29 December, in its current wording.
