A financial grant paid monthly by Social Security to Private Social Solidarity Institutions, Non-Governmental Organisations or legally equivalent, with a cooperation agreement with State, that develop the social service of Social Center, per elderly person.
The Social Centre is a social service, implemented in specific physical facilities, to support social, recreational and cultural activities, organised and promoted with the active participation of the elderly in a community.
This social service aims to
a) Prevent loneliness and social exclusion;
b) Promote autonomy and active and healthy ageing;
c) Encourage participation and promote social inclusion;
d) Foster interpersonal and intergenerational relationships;
e) Contribute to delaying or avoiding institutionalisation.
