Public Policy Measure
The Night Center is a social service, implemented in specific physical facilities, which consists of night-time reception, aimed at elderly people with autonomy who, during the day, remain at home and who, due to experiencing situations of loneliness, isolation and insecurity, need support during the night.
The Night Centre aims to:
a) Provide overnight accommodation for elderly people who are independent;
b) Ensure their well-being and safety;
c) Encourage them to remain in their usual living environment.
This social service is regulated by Order no. 96/2013, of March 4, which establishes the conditions for the installation and operation of social support establishments – Night Center.
