Public Policy Measure
The Day Centre is a social service, implemented in specific physical facilities, which consists of providing a set of services that help to keep elderly people in their community, social and family environment.
The Day Centre has the following objectives:
a) Provide adequate services to meet the needs of the elderly;
b) Promote autonomy and active, healthy ageing;
c) Provide psychosocial support;
d) Foster interpersonal and intergenerational relationships;
e) Favour the elderly person remaining in their usual living environment;
f) Contribute to delaying or avoiding institutionalisation.
