Public Policy Measure

The Recreational Activity Centre (CATL) is a socio-educational service, implemented in specific physical facilities, intended to support children and their families, offering supervision, leisure, and specific activities for children aged six and over during periods when their parents or legal guardians are unable to provide care.

The Recreational Activity Centre has the following objectives:
a) To provide activities integrated into a socio-cultural animation project, taking into account the characteristics of the groups and based on the greatest respect for the person;
b) To create an environment favourable to the development of each child or young person, so that they are able to express themselves in a climate of understanding, respect and acceptance;
c) To collaborate in the socialisation of each child or young person, through participation in group life;
d) Encouraging the interrelationship between family, school and community, in order to make the most of all the resources in the environment;
e) To improve the socio-educational situation and quality of life of children and young people;
f) Promote interaction and social inclusion of children with disabilities, at risk and in social and family exclusion.
