Public Policy Measure

Hospitalisation is a form of healthcare provided to individuals who, after admission to a healthcare establishment, occupy a bed (or neonatal or paediatric cot) for diagnosis, treatment or palliative care, with a stay of at least 24 hours.

Hospitalisation can be configured as scheduled surgical, urgent surgical or medical.
